Description: ClearTemp is an application for you to free up storage space on your device. It allows you to clear temporary/unused files and unused registry keys/values on your system easily. It also allows you to clear your Recent Program List, Internet Address History and soft reset counter. You can even change the location of the temporary folders (Cache, History & Cookies) or e-mail attachment folder to the Storage Card. If you have custom folders/files which you wish to clear, you can also add them in.

Installation Notes
  1. Download the CAB file and transfer it to your device. Do not open the CAB file as if it is a ZIP file.
  2. On your device, launch your file explorer and locate the CAB file.
  3. Tap on the CAB file to start installation.
Usage Notes
  1. You can tick/untick certain items to scan/clean.
  2. Use "Clean" to start clearing selected item(s).
  3. You can go to the options dialog from the tools menu.
  4. In the Options screen, you can change location of temp files or e-mail attachments by making the change in the dropdown list(s).
  5. You can also specify the location of Custom Folder 1, 2 and 3 in the Settings screen.
  6. You can also enable auto cleaning on system boot up by ticking the start up option in the Settings screen.
  7. Tap on "Apply" item under the "Tools" menu to confirm the new settings in the Settings screen.
  8. After changing the location of the temp files, please exit the program, save your work and perform a soft reset for the change to take effect.
  9. You can also modify your "Custom Files" list in the "Custom Files" screen. Wildcards (*) are supported in filenames.
  10. You can also clear the MRU (most recently used) list of selected third party applications in the MRU Cleaner screen.
  11. Detailed help file is available here.
Other Notes
  • Please uncheck "Auto clean on Start Up" first if you wish to un-install the software.
  • Refer to this blog entry to setup Custom Files list.
  • "Large Mail" is not supported in Windows Mobile 5.0 and above.
  • Detection of "Mail Attachments" does not work well on some devices.
  • The startup option does not clear bad registries, dead shortcuts and dead SIPs automatically.
  • For bad uninstall registry/files, make sure the software are no longer on the device before you agree to delete them. The setup information required to uninstall software will be gone after you choose to delete them.
  • Please take extra care and read the prompts carefully before removing SIPs detected as dead. You will not be able to recover the SIPs once you choose to remove them.
  • If you decide to uninstall ClearTemp, please remember to delete "ClearTemp Startup.lnk" shortcut file in the startup folder (e.g. "\Windows\StartUp\").

Thanks for this great help! Where is the perfect place to install the Cleartemp? In Device? My Storage? or Storage?

It doesn't really make a big difference where you install it to. If you use the startup option and/or switch Storage Cards regularly, then it may be slightly better to install it to the main memory.

ok i have clear temp and i want to use one of my custome folders to go to the directory of the sprint channels that save to my Device memory.
Ok i installed sprintTV example= Programs>SprintTV>Cache>channels,icons,lineu ps,menu
Now lets say i have 60MB of main memory on my device( htc diamond). I go ahead and open up sprintTV, and go watch a channels media, i exit out after im done. Now i go check my main memory and it now says 59MB. Now this happens every time i look at new videos from sprintTV (it just keeps eating my main memory). My question is, is there a way to assign the clear temp program to delete whatever the sprintTV is leaving behind in my main memory?

Great freeware

Any updates to solve:-

>oops…i forgot to check on Opera Mobile 9.6/9.7. thanks for the reminder.

Also would be nicer if you can group the Opera list together. Now the Cache and History+Cookie is seperated in the list.

I don't think v1.2.2 is working properly with Google Maps v3.2.1 (#12). With this version of GM, the map cache has been relocated to the sub-directory \Cache

Hi Steve, you are right. Will fix that in the next version. That's added motivation to push out the next update soon. Will aim for new release by the end of this month.

auhckw, the next version will be able to detect cache folder in Opera Mobile 9.7. However, Opera Mobile 9.7 is configured (by default) in such a way that it does not use file cache. So, the "fix" won't really help most Opera Mobile 9.7 users. You need to go to "opera:config" or Opera Mobile settings from ClearTemp in order to configure the file cache folder.

I moved the cleartemp file to my internal storage (it says i don't have enough room in my device) and whenever I click on it to install, it says installation was unsuccessful..... any thoughts??

#20 vicott 2009-11-19 23:42
did you try to soft reset? or re-download the file again?

#21 2009-11-19 23:48
yes to both :( but i've also been getting a message that my storage is critically low - which is why i was getting cleartemp to begin with. maybe that's somehow prohibiting the install?

#22 vicott 2009-11-19 23:55
did u select the option to install it to your Storage Card?

#23 2009-11-20 00:00
yes sure did

try using MSCEInf to extract "ClearTemp.exe" on your desktop PC, and just copy the file over to your Storage Card.

u may also want to delete some temp files using from the settings screen within IE.

#25 2009-11-20 00:49
ok got it working! no error message anymore either. thank you!!

#26 2009-11-30 18:19

Thanks for this useful application!

Are you aware of the Twitter tab bug on HTC HD2 devices (reported by several HD2 users)? Sometimes we can no longer connect to our Twitter account (the password does not work).

And it has also been reported that the uninstallation of the sofwtare (still on HD2) caused freezes and unability to dial the phone (reported by 1 user only for the moment).

Do you know how these bugs can be fixed?

Thanks !
